Middletown and LFCC Coordinate Police Departments
13 March 2018 News
The Middletown Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to approve an agreement with Lord Fairfax Community College, ensuring that town police and college police may enforce the law in each other’s jurisdictions.
While state code allows this cooperation upon request, both police departments desired a more formal and explicit agreement. The agreement is not intended to increase costs for either of the police departments, or to encourage campus or town police to actively patrol each other’s jurisdictions in an effort to try and make arrests; rather, both departments hope to be able to aid one another in the event of an emergency.
