New Strasburg Town Council Members Sworn In

12 July 2018 News

Four new Strasburg Town Council members were sworn in Tuesday.

The swearing in took place during the first council meeting since the start of the new members’ terms. Judge Kevin Black of the Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court performed the ceremony for new council members Ken Cherrix, Emily Reynolds, John Massoud, and Taralyn Nicholson, as well as returning member Scott Terndrup.

During the meeting, Terndrup was re-appointed by the council to the office of vice mayor as well. Mayor Rich Orndorff also took the opportunity to limit the number of committees the council oversees; he eliminated three committees in all, bringing the total number down from eight to five. Orndorff cited the lack of activity in committees over the past two years, as well as overlapping areas of focus between them.
