Skyline High School wins VHSL Conference 28 Forensics Tournament

The VHSL Conference 28 Forensics Tournament was held Monday night, February 13. Skyline High School won the 2017 Championship. The team is the biggest Forensics team in Skyline history. All 19 members of the team will advance to the 3A East Regional meet at New Kent High School this Friday, February 17th.

Forensics contests are competitions between individuals or teams in various argument and advocacy skills. These competitions usually train students in public speaking and “reasoned discourse in public life,” per the association’s website.

Kylie Swearingen – second place, Humorous Dramatic Interpretation

Alexia Simpson – second place, Prose

Logan Striker – second place, Impromptu Speaking

Sophia Conrow – second place, Serious Dramatic Interpretation

Sydney Harris – second place, Poetry

Essence Lang and Alex Vera – second place, Serious Duo Interpretation

Seth Gillespy and Nick Kays – third place, Humorous Duo Interpretation
