Unpaved Roads Top Priority for Involved Citizens at Frederick County Transportation Forum

7 December 2017 News

Interstate 81 roadwork, traffic, vehicle accidents and construction projects are perpetual concerns with drivers but unpaved roads are the current top priority for many of the people who showed up at the Frederick County Transportation Forum Wednesday, December 6th, 2017.

Virginia Department of Transportation, local planning agencies, the Sheriff’s Office and  members of the Frederick County Board of Supervisors and two of the county’s representatives in the House of Delegates were on hand to address issues of the day and questions from the public.

Virginia State Delegate Chris Collins, representative for Winchester, and Delegate J. Randall “Randy” Minchew, representative for Leesburg, serve on the House of Delegates Transportation Committee.  Collins admitted that the state had failed over the years to provide the county its fair share of transportation funding and said he would try to rectify that when the General Assembly convenes in 2018.

Other matters addressed at the forum included  an area law enforcement agencies’ push to make safety improvements along I-81 in the wake of recent fatal crashes.
