Virginia State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Northwestern Pike

14 July 2017 News

An early morning crash yesterday on Northwestern Pike was fatal for a West Virginia man. At approximately 8:57am, a collission occurred involving a pickup truck and a semitrailer cab near Hunt’s Cycle Shack at 6115 Northwestern Pike (U.S. 50).

David Paul Leask, 63, of Capon Bridge, WV, was traveling in his pickup truck trying to cross eastbound traffic. He pulled out in front of a semitrailer cab driven by Mark Meadows, 55, of High View, WV. The two vehicles collided and both vehicles veered left then fell about 20 yards down a steep median. The impact of the crash forced the pickup truck to overturn in the median. Meadows was uninjured but Leask was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Virginia State Police the crash remains under investigation. However, early reports say that Leask did not yield to the right of way.
