Winchester Public Schools Appoints Assistant Principal at Garland Quarles Elementary School

Winchester Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Todd Fannin as Assistant Principal at Garland Quarles Elementary School effective July 1, 2017. Fannin is a resident of New Market, VA. He is filling the position being vacated by Mr. Joseph Livesay who is moving to John Handley High School as an Assistant Principal.

Fannin has held the positions of Head JV Baseball Coach and Assistant Football Coach at Stonewall Jackson High School. He also served as Assistant Athletic Director of Stonewall Jackson High School and was the Athletic Director of Stonewall Jackson High School. He was also the supervising teacher of a winning team in the National Toshiba/NSTA National Science Competition and is a former Shenandoah County Teacher of the Year.

Fannin (Todd) is a native of Huntington, WV and is a 1986 Graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School in Kenova, WV. He earned his BA in Biology with a Minor in General Science from Marshall University and holds a Masters in Educational Administration/Supervision PreK-12 from Shenandoah University. He has been a teacher of Biology, Physical Science, AP Biology, and Human Anatomy/Physiology at Stonewall Jackson High School in Shenandoah County, VA.

Ms. Joanie Hovatter, Principal at Garland Quarles Elementary School, stated, “Mr. Fannin’s experiences and insights will make a positive impact with our students, staff, and families and contribute to our thriving literacy community. We are excited to welcome Mr. Fannin to GQES and WPS.”
