21 April 2017 News
Winchester Public Schools, along with CLEAN, Inc., and the Northern Shenandoah Valley Substance Abuse Coalition will be sponsoring a Spring Forum for parents of teenagers and those caring for teenagers on Thursday, April 27, 6:30 p.m. at John Handley High School in the Patsy Cline Theatre.
The event is created to provide an opportunity to gain new insights into the challenges facing our youth and the very important role we play, as adults, in helping them navigate the risks and thrive as they move into adulthood. The evening will begin with a play created and performed with local teenagers. The latest brain research will be provided in a very practical manner giving each of us tangible ways to be of real assistance to our teens.
Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to move through three of a possible five 15-minute breakout sessions. State troopers, school administrators, other parents, the assistant commonwealth attorney and a professional counselor will offer a few words on a variety of subjects important to teens and their parents and provide time for questions. The entire evening should be completed by 8:00 p.m.
