Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Company performed for students at Garland Quarles Elementary School on Wednesday, January 31st. The company received an Art Works Award of $15,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts. This was for the project, “The Common Good/Engaging the Underserved in the Shenandoah Valley”, presented in partnership with Shenandoah University. As part of their 10-day residency, the Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Company facilitated their internationally recognized community programs for various groups in Winchester.
Clarke County High School senior Robert Moore was recently selected as one of five state finalists for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program for Career and Technical Education (CTE). He earned his nomination through his leadership, grades, and his participation in CTE classes over the years, and can now submit his application consisting of recommendations, transcripts and five essays for the national honor. The Commission on Presidential Scholars selects up to 161 U.S Presidential Scholars each year. If he wins, Moore will be invited to the White House.
