On Monday, October 16, representatives from Air Force Junior ROTC Headquarters paid a visit to Randolph-Macon Academy for an inspection of the 091st Virginia Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). RMA is a college-preparatory, coeducational boarding school, and high school students in its Junior ROTC have the opportunity to learn to fly in its unique flight program. Numerous components of the corps were examined during last month’s visit, including uniform wear, marching, and financing, and a rating of “exceeds standards” was granted. Sergeant Pederson, Technical Sergeant Laing, and Master Sergeant Dupree were credited for the success, as well as the cadets themselves. Now the 091st Virginia AFJROTC anxiously awaits the announcement of the Distinguished Unit with Merit Award. This is handed out once stated yearly goals are met, and only given to a small percentage of units.
