Women’s Lax Announces Schedule

10 August 2017 Sports

WINCHESTER, Va. –¬†Shenandoah University Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Lindsey Lutz announced her 2018 schedule Thursday morning.

Lutz, who led her Hornets into the ODAC Tournament semi-finals for the third time in five years last spring, has eight home games as well as a two-game trip to Puerto Rico on tap for this coming spring.

In February, SU sandwiches a road contest at Mary Washington on the 21st around home games versus Hood on the 17th and Christopher Newport on the 27th.

The season opening game versus Hood, scheduled for 1 p.m., is also a doubleheader with the Hornet men.

The flight to Puerto Rico comes next as Lutz’ club takes on DeSales and Widener in a pair of non-league games on March 4 and 6, respectively.

Those two games are also the first two in a five-game stretch in which SU takes on teams from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Hornets host Scranton on March 10 and Marywood on March 14 before traveling to Lebanon Valley on St. Patrick’s Day.

The final non-conference game, at home versus Marymount on March 21, is next before Shenandoah opens ODAC play at defending champion Washington and Lee on March 27.

The Hornets host Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph-Macon and Bridgewater in league play while traveling to Randolph College, Roanoke, Guilford and Lynchburg.

“We have a tough stretch to start the season,” Lutz, who is heading into her 10th season as the program’s head coach.

Mary Washington and Christopher Newport are always very good and we have two good games on the trip to Puerto Rico.

“We are looking forward to another great year.”
