FRPD makes arrest for child pornography

An 8 month investigation came to an end when Front Royal Police arrested and charged Richard E. Jones Jr with 20 felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

In October, officers executed a search warrant on a residence on Accomac Drive and seized electronic devices.

After completing and extraction on the devices, over 400 images were discovered.

The 41 year old man is being held without bond at the RSW Regional Jail.

His court date is set for July 28th in the Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

New laws take effect in Virginia

July 1st marked the beginning of some new laws going into effect around the Commonwealth.

Officers can now pull you over and issue a ticket for excessive load exhaust as a primary offense.

Catalytic converter theft is now a class 6 felony.

Another law that went into effect bans law enforcement agencies from establishing ticket quotas.

Quotas also can no longer be used to evaluate officer performance.

Marijuana laws have changed as well with possession of more than 4 ounces but less than a pound in public now deemed a misdemeanor.

Virginia also now allows hunting on Sundays at least 200 yards from places of worship.

FRLL fundraising for All Star tournament

Front Royal Little League’s Senior All Stars are having fundraisers around town today to raise money for their All Star tournament in Castlewood, Virginia on July 8th.

Starting at 8 am, they will have a bake sale set up at the Front Royal Flea Market.

Then at 10 am, they will have a car wash at Advanced Auto Parts and begin collecting donations at Wal-Mart.

All proceeds go towards the team’s expenses so any bit helps to keep these boys playing.
