Bank Robbery In Berkeley County

A bank robbery at the Martinsburg WVA Federal Credit Union was reported on June 27th, 1:10pm in Berkeley County.

There was one injury reported, with one of the bank tellers suffering a hand injury during the robbery.

The bank employees were able to give a detailed description of the individual, which was immediately given to Berkeley dispatch.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division personnel were in the area, and were able to search routes for the suspect.

Deputy Weidman was able to follow the individual as other deputies came to assist. The suspect was apprehended on Eagle School Road without incident.

The perpetrator was identified as Daniel Keith Sandlin. After looking at the bank’s security footage, Sandlin was found with stolen money in his pocket. No weapon was displayed or used during the crime.

Daniel Sandlin was charged with bank robbery and was reprimanded to the Eastern Regional jail on a $50,000 bond.

Hiker Airlifted To A Trauma Center From The Skyline Drive

On June 27th, at 3PM, a hiker fell off of a rock face on the Skyline Drive, rendering them unconscious.

WCFR (Warren County Fire Rescue) was dispatched to the 10 mile post, and hiked half a mile down the trail to administer advanced life support care.

U.S. National Park Search and Rescue also responded to the scene to assist with removing the individual off of the trail.

Due to significant trauma, Air Medical Front Royal was requested to air lift the patient to a local trauma center.

Undercover Operation To Catch A Strasburg Child Predator A Success

The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the solicitation of minors on June 14th.

The sheriff’s office began an undercover operation, and an adult male began soliciting a Rappahannock County undercover detective posing as an underage juvenile female.

The offender was identified as 41yr old Sanjay Sugay from Strasburg, Virginia. On June 27th,

Sugay traveled to Rappahannock County in an attempt to meet the underage female with lascivious intent.

Investigators took Sugay into custody and is now being held at Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail without bond.
