The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reports the rescue of a 4-year-old thanks to concerned citizens.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. August 17 a concerned citizen phoned Fauquier County Emergency Communications to report a young boy alone on his property.
The boy was seen on his security camera.
Minutes later a second call from the parents reported their child was missing.
A short time later a third call reported they saw a child jump into a local pond only a few hundred yards from the first caller’s location.
A Fauquier County Deputy was already at the first caller’s location and made his way to the pond.
The deputy found several citizens were already in the water searching for the boy.
Emergency personnel were called in immediately and the deputy joined them in the water when a citizen found the boy in several feet of water and was already taking him to shore.
The deputy began CPR on the boy.
Emergency medical personnel took over lifesaving procedures while transporting him to UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center.
Once the boy was stabilized, he was transporter to Fairfax Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
As of August 21, the boy was reported alive although he remains on life support.
Thanks to the citizens’ awareness and reports coming in less than 10 minutes apart what could have been a tragedy ended hopeful.
