ACSO report the recovery of Skeletal remains

Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) report that skeletal remains of a human have been discovered in the county.

Authorities were notified of human remains being unearthed on the morning of May 23.

A contractor at a residential building site in the 1600 block of Tinkling Springs Road unearthed skeletal remains while digging footers for a new home.

Investigators from the ACSO and Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation were on the scene immediately after being informed and launched the investigation.

Once fully extracted the remains will be sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for attempts at identification and determination of cause of death.

Once the investigation is completed additional information will be released to the public.

Preliminary indications are that they are not the remains of any active missing person’s case.

Authorities also report that they are not likely to be the remains of 3-year-old Khaleesi Cuthriell.
