ALICE Awareness Week Begins
The United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley is holding its first ALICE Awareness Week, starting today.
ALICE is an acronym, and stands forAsset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed. The goal of ALICE Awareness Week is to raise money for the United Way NSV’s Valley Assistance Network, which helps people who are already working hard during unstable periods of their life with financial and housing issues. In order to raise the money, the United Way is asking local residents to live like ALICE individuals, and make their weekly budget reflect that of someone who is income constrained. Participants may use public transportation, wear the same outfit for an entire week, or reign in their daily food budget to around $5.50. For more information or to set up a personal ALICE Awareness Week fundraiser, visit the United Way NSV at unitedwaynsv.org.
