Area districts extend school closures

Frederick County Public Schools, Winchester Public Schools, Warren County Public Schools and Clarke County Public Schools have all extended their school closures to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

Frederick County Public Schools will be closed until at least Tuesday, April 14. All school offices and the division’s administrative offices will be closed to the public until Friday, April 3. Teachers and professional staff will engage in online training Friday designed to formalize the way in which the division will offer learning opportunities to students. The division is offering free breakfast and lunch at any of their three high schools starting Friday. The Student Support Services team will spend the next several days delivering Bright Futures Food Packs to those eligible. Winchester Public Schools will be closed through at least Monday, April 13. All school offices and school division administrative offices will be closed to the public until Monday, April 13. Weekday meal distribution sites are set up across the city for anyone 18 years or younger and staff will begin delivering food packs courtesy of Bright Futures Frederick-Winchester to those eligible. Warren County Public Schools will be closed through Monday, April 13. They will offer all children, 18 and younger, free breakfast and lunch at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. There are 6 satellite locations throughout Warren County where meals will be distributed starting Tuesday, March 24. Information regarding the satellite locations will be posted on the district’s website.

Clarke County Public Schools will remain closed to students through April 13. The district is offering five breakfasts and five lunches free of charge to anyone 18-years old or younger. The meal pick-up service is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, March 23, at Clarke County High School, Entrance U.
