Arrangements and funds are made for Officers Painter and Jefferson

A social media post from Bridgewater College announced the arrangements for the two officers shot and killed on campus Tues. Feb. 1.

Visitation for Campus Police Officer John Painter will be open to the public today Feb. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

The visitation for Officer J.J. Jefferson’s is a private affair for family and friends.

Memorial Services for both officers are open to the public Wednesday at 11 a.m. at James Madison University Union Bank Center.

Bridgewater College has established the John Painter and J.J. Jefferson memorial student support fund.

The fund will be held in perpetuity to honor the college officers.

The specific uses of the fund will be finalized after consultation with members of the Bridgewater College Campus Police Department.

Donations to the fund can be made at the school’s website Bridgewater College. edu.

Shenandoah University (SU) has also established a fund in honor of J.J. Jefferson who was a former employee of the school.

That fund will support students studying criminal justice at SU.

Donations to that fund can be made at advancement.su.edu.
