Augusta Co. Authorities prevent a man from jumping from window

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office report responding to a Staunton man threatening to jump out of a window of a building on Pinnacle Drive in Fishersville October 25.

The call came from the Augusta County Fire and Rescue who were first on the scene.

Fire and Rescue was responding after the man pulled the fire alarm in the building and then sprayed a person with a fire extinguisher before hanging out of the window from the fourth floor.

Deputies determined that the man had broken into the building before threatening to jump.

After negotiating with the man for approximately an hour he was taken into custody.

David Andrew Bell was arrested and is being held in the Middle River Regional Jail without bond and faces several charges.

The 62-year-old Staunton man faces Felony Breaking and entering of an occupied building with the intent to commit a misdemeanor.

Bell is also charged with a felony charge of malicious injury by caustic substance with additional charges pending.
