Ballenger named new Warren County Public Schools superintendent
Ballenger will replace Interim Superintendent Melody Sheppard who was appointed in October of 2019 after former Superintendent Greg Drescher announced his retirement.
“I’m excited and honored to be the new superintendent of Warren County,” Ballenger said after the board’s vote. “There are a lot of things that Warren County offers that I’m excited to be a part of. Within this system you have dedicated staff, you have wonderful people, and you have a community that is growing and that is vibrant and it is exciting to be a part of this.”
Ballenger, an Oklahoma native, moved to Virginia three years ago to serve as the assistant superintendent for Smyth County Public Schools.
He will begin his four-year term as superintendent of Warren County Public Schools on Wednesday, July 1.
