Berkeley County Authorities investigate a school bomb threat

Berkeley County West Virginia Authorities announced that they had to react to a bomb threat at a local school and all involved responded flawlessly.
The situation involved the evacuation of Martinsburg’s South Middle School and placed Martinsburg High and Berkeley Heights Elementary Schools on alert on Apr. 3 at approximately 10:35 a.m.
This action was taken due to a bomb threat reported at South Middle School.
South Middle School Principal Mark Barney received the notice of the bomb threat from a student.
Evacuation of students began immediately and law enforcement was called in to secure the building.
Authorities with bomb sniffing canines made a complete sweep of the Middle School building while students waited at the Martinsburg High School Football Field.
By approximately 11:50 a.m. the all clear was given and all were allowed back into school to resume the day.
A student has been identified in the threat with legal and disciplinary actions to be taken.
Berkeley County Authorities and school administrators commended the actions and response of all students and staff for their demeanor and clam during the entire ordeal.
