Berryville seeks a replacement town council member

Berryville announced they are seeking a replacement for a town council member.

Town Council Member Donna Marie McDonald has been forced to resign effective  immediately.

McDonald has represented Ward 1 since being elected in 2016 and reelected in 2020.

McDonald has recently been the chairperson of the Public Safety Committee.

The Council Member has struggled with attempting to carry out duties to her satisfaction due to health issues.

Mayor Jay Arnold said the search for McDonald’s replacement is in progress and the seat will be filled by December 8, 2022.

Arnold added that it is a difficult time for all concerned with the first concern being Mrs. McDonald’s wellbeing.

Town Manager Keith Dalton says any qualified voter from Ward 1 is eligible to fill the position.

Anyone wishing to be considered needs to submit a letter of interest, complete a Berryville Talent Bank Form and submit a resume to the Town Clerk by Nov. 18, 2022.

The Town may have additional details on the replacement process and timetable after discussing the issue at their regularly scheduled Nov. 8th meeting.
