Housing Summit co-hosted by Blue Ridge Habitat

20 February 2019 Luray/Page County Shenandoah County Winchester Frederick County Clarke County Community

State of Habitat annual address, 2019 Housing Summit, and more topics were part of the conversation on The Valley Today with Matt Peterson, Executive Director for Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity. You can listen to the conversation here: https://theriver953.com/podcast/blue-ridge-habitat-for-humanity-3/

We discussed their recent “State of Habitat” annual address. Matt told us about the event itself and we talked about some of the information that was shared during the 3rd annual meeting.

We also got details for the upcoming 2019 Housing Summit happening on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 8:30am – 3pm at Shenandoah University. Join community leaders to begin a conversation to improve housing and neighborhoods for all residents by assessing where we are, learning best practices and how we can build strategic partnerships to shape the future. This community conversation focused on solution-oriented strategies led by Kai Degner utilizing Open Space Technology to facilitate this summit.

Like many communities across the nation, the Northern Shenandoah Valley is facing a crisis in addressing the critical shortage of affordable housing. This inaugural event will bring together a diverse group of people to share information, promote cross-sector partnerships and develop an action plan to create affordable housing solutions in our community.

Government leaders, developers, realtors, faith-based organization, nonprofits, civic groups, policy experts, school systems, EDA’s and the community are all invited to attend. The more diverse representation of our community, the better the discussion and possible solutions.

There is no cost to attend the Housing Summit, however all participants MUST REGISTER. You can get details and register on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/327352481445934/
