Christendom College names next President

Christendom College announced the selection of their fourth President, Dr. George Harne.

Dr. Harne is a widely respected scholar of music history and liberal arts, earning his Ph. D. from Princeton and masters degrees from Princeton, St. John’s College, and the University of Washington.

He will succeed Dr. Timothy O’Donnell, who has served as the college president for 30 years, nearly two-thirds of the school’s entire existence.

During his tenure, Christendom has grown to an alumni base of over 4,000 and the college’s endowment from $200,000 to over $28 million.

Dr. Harne will transition into his new role beginning in June.

He brings with him experience as a dean and college president with Magdalen College and most recently served as the Executive Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

During the extensive interview process, Dr. Harne emerged for his depth of experience, insights, humility, and clear commitment to the Christendom mission.
