Clarke County Crash Leads to Death, Infant in WMC

CLARKE – An Augusta native did not survive a single car crash in Clarke County on Nov. 15.
Karen Nugent and one infant were traveling on Triple J Rd. in Clarke County at 7:30 pm on Nov. 15. Nugent’s 2008 Dodge Caliber ran off the roadway and collided with a fence. Nugent, who was 30 years old, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The male infant was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiners in Manassas for treatment of minor injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The crash remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police. They currently suspect that a medical emergency was the cause of the vehicle running off the road.
