Clarke County properties to be sold at public auction
After current owners have failed to pay their taxes, 25 Clarke County properties will be sold at public auction. The Tax-Delinquent Real Estate Auction includes 22 lots in the mountainside community Shenandoah Retreat, one property within the Town of Berryville, and two other parcels in the county. The current owners of the property had received at least 12 notices regarding taxes owed, and three years have passed with no tax payments made. Clarke County Treasurer Sharon Keeler notes that the County would rather work out any type of payment plan before selling properties at auction. The auction will take place at 1 p.m. on March 26 in the second-floor meeting room of the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center.
