Clarke County’s Forte is a late scratch in Kentucky Derby

Clarke County’s Forte, who was a favorite to win the Kentucky Derby was a late scratch in the May 6 race due to a hoof bruise.
The 3-year-old form Millwood Southgate Farm is an Eclipse Award champion and had 6 first place finishes in 7 races coming into the Derby.
Forte began the winning streak back in September with a biography available from Thoroughbred Daily News here.
Breeder Amy Moore reports that Forte started out very shy, but trainer Todd Pletcher says he’s really gained a great deal of confidence.
Moore tells Daily Race Forum that she can’t go anywhere in Clarke County without well wishers stopping her.
The run for the roses began at 6:45 on May 6 with Mage winning the race Two Phil’s coming in second and Angel of Empire in third.
