As we approach the 25th year since September 11, 2001 tragedy commemoratives to honor the lives lost will be held throughout the region.

Most ceremonies will begin at that time as the attacks began early on the day.

The annual solemn event at the Gazebo in Front Royal will host military representatives and speakers again starting at 8:30.

A Handley High Schools stair climb will take place starting at 4:30 a.m. with the climb starting at 5 a.m.

The climb is expected to conclude at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Anyone is welcome to participate and should meet at the school at 4:30 a.m.

Loudoun County will hold an event at Segra Field in Leesburg which will be followed by the annual stair climb by first responders.

The stair climbs that are often held commemorate the heroic efforts of the 343 firefighters and 70 law enforcement personnel who made that climb up the stairs on that day in 2001.

The climbs are generally the equivalent of the 110 stories of both towers that collapsed that day.

The Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Veterans Engagement Board will host the Heroes and Harvest Festival from 4 to 8 p.m.

The Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Veterans Engagement event will be held at the Newtown Commons in Stephens City.

Woodstock Fire Department will host a commemorative September 11 at the Fire Hall starting at 8:30 a.m.

These are just some of the events being held as a commemorative to the events of 9/11.
