Confirmed rabies case in Warren County

On September 14th, Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a sick or injured cat on Oregon Hollow Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a caged feline and several other cats on the property.
They observed signs of a possible rabies infection in the caged cat and transported it to a local veterinary clinic.
The staff agreed with the observations, and it was humanely euthanized.
On September 20th, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that the samples sent for testing were positive for rabies.
The Warren County Health Department is urging residents to have their pets vaccinated for rabies and avoid unfamiliar animals.
