Confirmed: Town Manager Burke poised to leave FR for City of Manassas
2 November 2016 News
Shenandoah District Supervisor Tom Sayre revealed at Tuesday morning’s Warren County Board of Supervisors meeting that Front Royal Town Manager Steve Burke was leaving his job.
Asked to comment on Sayre’s statement, Burke declined to either confirm or deny he was poised to leave his job. Burke deferred further comment to Mayor Tim Darr.
Contacted by phone, Darr confirmed that within the past few days Burke turned his resignation in, effective November 25th. Burke will leave the Town Manager’s job he has held since 2011, to become Director of Public Works for the City of Manassas.
Following receipt of Burke’s resignation, Council first meets on November 14th.
“We would have liked to be the ones to announce his departure, not a member of the Board of Supervisors, Front Royal’s Mayor said.
