Crash Kills Frederick Co Deputy and Wife

4 September 2018 News

A Sunday evening crash in Page County took the life of a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputy and his wife.

According to the Virginia State Police, both 46-year-old Deputy Randall E. Hensley and his wife Melissa died at the scene at U.S 340 and Battle Creek Road, north of Newport. The couple were driving a 2016 Harley-Davidson north on 340 and riding behind a Jeep Cherokee when a Dodge pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction crossed the center line. The truck sideswiped the Jeep before hitting the motorcycle head on at about 6:40 p.m. that night.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Frederick County Sheriff Lenny Millholland said Monday that “the men and women of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office are in mourning,” and that the 4-year deputy “will be sorely missed.”
