Credit Card Fraudster Turns Herself In

8 January 2018 News

According to Detective Zach King with the Front Royal Police Department,  Katie Fonte, stole two credit cards and used them to purchase dinner at a restaurant in Front Royal, racking up a bill that totaled more than $200.  Each stolen credit card constituted a felony; and, spending over $200 on the one card brings the total of felonies to three. The amount spent with the second card was less than $200, making it a misdemeanor.

The owner of the credit card was notified of the charges and immediately reported them as fraud. Front Royal Police were alerted once the restaurant got the charge back.  Detective King says the time between the report of the crime and the arrest was almost immediate.  Detective King contacted the suspect via phone. Katie Fonte subsequently turned herself in at the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail.  Detective King stated that Fonte has been very cooperative.
