Criser Road Bridge Closing for Summer

1 June 2018 News

Front Royal Town Manager Joe Waltz has announced that the Criser Road Bridge will be closing in just a few days for a period of months.

The closure is part of a nearly $1 million project to replace the bridge, which currently floods about every ten years. Financed by both the town and the Virginia Department of Transportation, the replacement roadway will be 17 feet longer and include two 12 foot wide lanes, a slight rise in height, and a sidewalk. Construction is set to begin on June 4th, 2018, and last until early September of this year; the timeframe was chosen specifically by the town to have the least possible impact on traffic for the nearby Ressie Jeffries Elementary School.
