6 December 2018 Shenandoah County Frederick County News
VDOT confirmed in a release that at the monthly meeting of the Commonwealth Transportation Board yesterday (12/5/18), Secretary of Transportation Shannon Valentine announced the conclusion of the yearlong Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Plan study. The study was conducted to identify priorities along Virginia’s 325 miles of I-81 and potential revenue sources that could be dedicated to improvements; the team behind it established a portfolio of targeted solutions to improve travel on I-81 as well as a variety of funding mechanisms to support them. As a result, the CTB officially voted Wednesday to approve the plan they developed. The team will now submit its findings to the General Assembly prior to the first day of the 2019 Session.
