Culpeper County Sheriff’s cruiser struck during chase by VSP

Virginia State Police (VSP) report by email the continuation of the investigation of a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Fauquier County.
The crash involved law enforcement from Madison and Culpeper Counties.
July 10 shortly after 9 P.M. a chase of a 2003 Honda CR-V was in progress on Route 29 just north of Freeman’s Ford Road in Fauquier County.
While eluding a police pursuit the Honda swerved into the left lane to avoid a disabled vehicle in the right shoulder.
As that was done the Honda collided with a Culpeper County Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle.
The impact of the collision caused the Honda to leave the road and overturn.
The 43-year-old male driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle.
The unidentified Earlysville Virginia man had to be flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The Culpeper County deputy who was struck was left uninjured in the incident.
