Diamonds in the Rough, Vol. 6 No. 3

21 March 2017 Sports

WINCHESTER, Va. – Senior Lindsay Corbin is in her third year of blogging about the softball program. This week, she takes time out from digging out of the snow to catch us up on all of the squad’s action.

Just when we thought we had survived without any snow storms this winter, we were surprised with a few inches this past week over what would have been our spring break.

It has been tough with rescheduling games because of the weather, but we loved having a few extra days to get ready to start conference play this week. Everyone has stepped up and taken to their roles on the team this year which is awesome!

Coach knows she can call on anyone at any time to step up to the plate and make something happen for us! That’s just what sophomore Janae Hester did when she was called on to hit in the second game of our doubleheader last Tuesday versus Frostburg –  she hit a triple to the fence that scored plated our first run in what turned out to be a 5-4 victory! I think I was more excited for her than she was for herself!

Ed. Note: Janae is the epitome of even keel. She never gets too excited or too down.

The chemistry we have on this team this year is great and it just makes me more excited for the conference play ahead of us! Wednesday starts the road of a ton of games in the next two weeks but we are ready for it! Come join us at home this Saturday as we take on Guilford at home starting at noon.
