An email from Augusta County Public Schools confirms that Superintendent Dr. Eric Bond has been named Superintendent of the year for region 5.

Region 5 consist of 20 school divisions that make up the valley region.

Bond has been Superintendent of Augusta County schools since 2014 and has served on the Virginia General Assembly Joint Committee to Study the Future of Public Education.

Being selected Superintendent of the year for region 5 puts Bond in the running for the Virginia superintendent of the year award.

Superintendents from eight regions are competing for that honor.

The winner will be announced at the Association of School Superintendent Luncheon in Roanoke on May 2.
