Economic Development Director Terminated in Clarke
November 21, 2019
BERRYVILLE – The Clarke County Board of Supervisors decided during a closed session to terminate the contract of Economic Development and Tourism Director Len Capelli.
The Board meeting on Tuesday went on as scheduled, and after a closed session towards the end of the meeting, the Board returned and voted unanimously to end the contract of the Tourism Director. None of the Board gave a specific reason as to why they terminated the contract, and are not required to do so by Virginia Law.
Several Board members did express that they appreciated Capelli’s work in his two positions. His contract was due to end in March of 2020, and it was believed that he wasn’t going to return to the positions. Following the termination vote, Capelli will have 90 days to exit his positions.
