Fauquier Authorities begin a chase that runs into W.VA.

Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reports that on Jan. 7 Deputies began a pursuit of four motorcycles that went into West Virginia. 

The motorcyclist were spotted traveling north on US 17 Spur well in excess of the posted speed.

The Deputy activated his emergency equipment to perform a traffic stop while one of the motorcyclist disregarded that and accelerated to approximately 90 to 100 miles per hour.

The motorcycle was tracked north on James Madison Highway through The Plains, Marshall, Rectortown, Upperville and into Clarke County at speeds well over 100 miles per hour with Virginia State Police and Clarke County authorities joining the chase.

Authorities were able to safely maintain close pursuit while at the same time alerting traffic ahead as the motorcyclist passed cars in on coming lanes disregarded signs and signals and continued excessive acceleration.

The chase continued onto Route 81 North and into West Virginia where Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

Christopher Janowiak has been charged with a number of driving violations.

Janowiak was also found to be in possession of several concealed weapons and is currently being held in West Virginia.
