FCFR and FCSO investigate fire death

The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed in an email the investigation of an incident early May 5.

The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office in coordination with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office are conducting an investigation into a fire that involved the death of a victim.

Frederick County Emergency Communications received a call of a structure fire at 665 Pifer Road.

Units from Star Tannery were the first to arrive around 5:50 a.m. yesterday May 5.

Crews found the enclosed back porch of the house was fully involved with fire.

An adult male occupant of the house reported that a disabled female occupant was unaccounted for.

Crews initiated a primary search finding the remains of the victim in the engulfed back porch.

The investigation of the incident continues including a complete autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia for positive identification.

The origin of the fire is still to be determined.
