FCFR assist in bomb threat investigation and townhouse fire

In addition to helping with the wildfire efforts in Virginia and West Virginia Frederick County Fire and Rescue also assisted with a bomb threat at Hedgesville High School.

The threat was deemed noncredible with a student facing charges in Berkeley County.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue at the same time as the bomb threat investigation had to respond to a townhouse fire around 9 a.m. March 21 according to an email report.

On arrival in the Barrington Lane area fire was found in the rear of the home.

The fire was moving toward additional homes.

The fire had damaged a natural gas pipeline which added fuel to the blaze.

Firefighters evacuated neighboring homes as a precaution.

Crews from 9 different companies responded including representatives from Washington Gas remained on the scene until approximately 2:30.

The cause of the fire was deemed accidental but remains under investigation.

Over $237,000 in damage was reported in the fire with the American Red Cross assisting the residence involved.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
