FCFR respond to an early morning fire that threatens woods

Frederick County Fire and Rescue (FCFR) reports by email that units from 9 different departments responded to an Apr. 2 fire in the Mountain Falls Park area.

Upon arrival at approximately 8:15 a.m. firefighters found a 2-story single family dwelling fully involved with fire extending into the surrounding woods.

Firefighters were not able to enter the structure but fought the fire from the outside with additional units concentrating on preventing the fire from reaching the woods.

The fire was extinguished by 10 a.m. with units remaining on the scene until just past 11 a.m.

One person was treated for minor injuries with no firefighters injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation with approximate damage at almost  $226,000.

The fire marshal’s office reminds citizen of the importance of checking fire and smoke detectors regularly.
