FCPS address embezzlement charges against Diamond Club Treasurer

Frederick County Public School (FCPS) Board addressed the allegations against the former treasurer of the James Wood Diamond Club by email.

On March 7 the former treasurer Winchester resident Ronda Gross turned herself into Virginia State Police and faces 10 felony counts of embezzlement.

FCPS did acknowledge the allegations and a relationship with the Diamond Club.

FCPS confirmed that the club operates separately from the school.

At this time FCPS sees no indication that the school or school division was involved in the allegations or the situation.

FCPS reiterated its commitment to remain focused on the growth and wellbeing of its students.

As students in its school system are the center of everything they do according to the statement.

The James Wood Diamond Club fundraises for the James Wood Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball Program.

The embezzlement charges involved Gross while she was treasurer of the club between 2016 and 2023.
