FCPS announce administrative changes beginning July 1

Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) announced administrative changes that take effect July 1.
Superintendent George Hummer announced that Dr. Tara Woolever has been named the new principal of James Wood Middle School.
Woolvever has 24 years of education experience and is returning to Frederick County after spending 7 years in Loudoun County, most recently as the assistant principal at John Champe high school.
Woolever will succeed Grant Javersak who is retiring after 19 years in the Frederick County Public School system.
Karen McCoy has been named principal at Sherando High School after serving as the school’s assistant principal since 2011.
McCoy succeeds John Nelson who is retiring after 23 years as Sherando Principal and 40 years in the FCPS system.
Alyssa McKee will be taking the job of principal at James Wood Middle School as of July 1.
McKee succeeds Michael Bolin who has taken the position of Hearing Officer and Safety and Security Administrator for FCPS.
McKee has most recently worked at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School and has been in the FCPS System since at least 2014.
