FCPS board address the sentencing of a board member

The Frederick County School (FCPS) Board released a statement on the sentencing of board member Miles Adkins July 1.

According to a report from WTOP Adkins was sentenced to a total of 12 intermittent days in prison.

The 39-year-old Adkins will serve the sentence over the course of consecutive weekends.

Adkins must also serve 24 months of probation and owes a fine and restitution for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol Building breach.

The Frederick County School Board issued their statement on the sentencing by email July 1.

The board reiterated their commitment to supervise and support the school division.

Being aware of the court’s decision to sentence Adkins the board stated that they remain focused on the children of the county.

The board will continue to make decisions that serve the best interests of the students while working to ensure that the educational environment is not disrupted by the events according to the statement.

The board went on to state that they will remain focused on working together to support students, staff and others who play an integral role in educating the children in the communities.
