FCPS Launches “Season of Celebration and Success” Students, Parents and Staff Encouraged to Share Success Stories from 2016-17

9 May 2017 News

From May 8 through June 7, Frederick County Public Schools is inviting students, parents, teachers, staff and members of the community to participate in the Season of Celebration and Success. The Season of Celebration and Success is an opportunity to share success stories from the 2016-17 school year and to thank Frederick County Public Schools’ employees who have made a difference for students this year.

Schools Superintendent David Sovine says, “This is the sixth year in which we’ve asked the community to share student success stories and take a few minutes to voice appreciation for the many staff members who positively impact students each day. As the end of the school year approaches, the Season of Celebration and Success offers an opportunity to reflect on the growth that’s occurred among our students this year as well as their achievements. The initiative also provides an avenue for the community to recognize those teachers, administrators and staff members who have given of themselves throughout the year to make a difference for our students and their families.”

Anyone is welcome to participate in the Season of Celebration and Success. Submissions can be made online by visiting the Frederick County Public Schools’ homepage, or any individual school’s homepage, and clicking on the Season of Celebration and Success link. Submission forms are also available in the office at each Frederick County Public School. Throughout the Season of Celebration and Success, some of the success stories and thank you messages that are submitted will be shared via the school division’s website, Facebook page and e-newsletter FCPS Focus.

Sovine says, “The stories and thank you messages shared during the Season of Celebration and Success are usually very moving. The messages that are submitted are shared with the schools and staff members who are mentioned in them. The simple gesture of taking time to voice appreciation to school staff means a great deal and helps staff members gain a better understanding of the difference they make through their daily work with students.”

The celebrations, success stories and notes of appreciation submitted during the Season of Celebration and Success may be used in publications and other communications to celebrate the value of public education and the positive impact Frederick County Public Schools has on students and the community.
