Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) Superintendent Dr. George Hummer presented his budget to the School Board during a meeting on January 24.

The budget proposal includes initiatives addressing budget priorities adopted by the School Board in October and in support of the “Inspire 2025: A Promise for Progress” strategic plan.

Some of those priorities include compensation packages to retain and recruit high quality staff, operational funding to address facility maintenance and aging infrastructure/systems, and instructional initiatives, professional learning, and necessary support for continuing growth.

The proposed School Operating Fund budget totals $239.6 million with an additional $8 million requested by Dr. Hummer from the School Operating Fund to support day-to-day operations and focuses on the needs of our students.
