A press release from Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) announced the retirement of Superintendent Dr. David Sovine.

After 11 years in the position Sovine will leave the office as of June 30, 2022.

Where Sovine credits the hard work and dedication of the teachers, administration and staff all FCPS have become fully accredited under his supervision.

Before Sovine at least one of the schools had not been accredited for over a decade.

Many of the schools in the county were in the lower percentage in the state when it comes to the Standard of Learning (SOL) exams.

Those standards have now improved under Sovine’s leadership.

Sovine is also credited with helping to create Bright Futures with the help of local community and business leaders.

Sovine is credited with many other accomplishments at FCPS Superintendent as well.
