FCSO arrest carjackers after chase

An email from Traffic Division Commander & Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Warren Gosnell of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office confirms the arrest of two carjackers.

A report was taken of  a vehicle being stolen at gunpoint by two males at the off ramp on Route 37 North on Valley Pike.

Authorities spotted the vehicle a short time later at 37 and Route 50 and began a chase that at times exceeded 118 miles per hour.

The two suspects were tossing items from the vehicle as they fled.

At the Route 37 Interstate 81 interchange spike stripes were successfully deployed in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The chase continued down Route 37 to Tasker Road and Hillsdale Drive before the vehicle left the pavement and went into the woods and down an embankment .

The two suspects attempted to flee on foot only to be tracked by a K-9 unit and a helicopter which led to their surrender.

Isaiah Houston of Daleville Virginia and Desmon Wheeler of Bellspring Virginia were taken into custody.

The pair are facing a number of charges including eluding, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of stolen property.

Both men are being held in the Regional Detention Center.
