FCSO investigates bicycle vehicle crash and obstruction of justice incident

Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reports an incident of a bicycle crash and then an obstruction of justice incident on June 11.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to a vehicle crash  involving a 16-year-old bicyclist.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. the boy and his family were riding together in the Silver Hill Road and Silver Court section near Summerduck.

The driver of the striking vehicle a 79-year-old female stopped immediately, and a passerby began CPR on the victim.

Responding medical personnel requested air transport by helicopter after examination and the victim was flown to Fairfax Hospital.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing with no charges filed yet.

As deputies preformed the initial investigation and closed the intersection a local man violated a deputy’s orders and drove through the investigation site.

Mark Manning of Summerduck has been arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and crossing established police lines.

The 53-year-old Manning has been jailed on a $2,000 secured bond.

Authorities across Virginia are asking drivers to remain alert and share the road when it comes to bicyclist.

As warmer weather continues more bicyclists and motorcyclists will become more prevalent and motorists need to remain vigilant.
