FCSO seeks information in an animal cruelty case

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reports that they are seeking information in an animal cruelty case.

Despite Apr. 10-14 being National Animal Care and Control Appreciation week.

Beyond the fact that we respect and appreciate all our animal control officers there was an incident of animal cruelty the night of Apr. 7.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. in the Gore area on the 100 block of Rhinehart Lane a dog was shot.

The dog was let out by its owner around 8:30 when the owner heard a gunshot around the eastern side of their residence about 15 minutes later.

Shortly after that the owner found the dog on her property bleeding with several small wounds.

The dog is still alive, but the owner pulled at least 18 small buckshot pellets from the animal’s hide.

Anyone with any information in the incident is asked to contact the FCSO.

Contact Animal Control Officer A.M. Morris at 540-662-6162.
